Pearl necklace for girlfriend: tight or loose?
I’m going to buy a pearl necklace for my girlfriend for our one year anniversary. The question I have is, should I buy her a necklace that’s more of a choker style or one that hangs loose by a few inches? She’s seventeen and a junior in high school. What is the fashionable look for pearls for a girl her age?
She’s already dropped the hint a couple times that she wants pearls, so I’m sure I’m heading in the right direction.

The best length for a one strand pearl necklace should be one resting at the base of her neck, very classic but still modern. Droopy is too old and can’t really wear it dressed up with all the different dresses’ necklines. And if you want to buy a choker, it should be multiple strands to add a dramatic effect (as in Breakfast at Tiffany’s opening).
Get something that’s just a little bit looser than a choker, but not too long and drapy… a lot of girls are wearing super long beaded necklaces these days, but I think that for something expensive and classy like pearls, something shorter would be better.
1 question why pearls for a 17yr old?
Thats an odd gift, usually its like a silver neclace or something. ( it would probably be cool looking if she was into artsy stuff) Well I would have to say if I had to choose the cooler of the 2 would be choker style but you would have to really see how she likes to wear jewlery normally. If she wears choker style already than you have your answer but If you’re super unsure I would go at a length somewhere between the 2.
I think loose is cooler but make sure to keep a receipt just in case or casually show her a picture of someone wearing tighter pearls and see how she reacts.
